 hese Black Tourmaline, or Schorl, crystals all come from The Erongo Mountains in Namibia, south-east of the Brandberg.
This area has produced some really good quality Schorl. The crystals tend to be clean and well formed. They have a good lustre. Some of them have rather unique and interesting formations.
In recent years there has not been much Schorl coming out of The Erongo, as mining in the area is dangerous. The minerals often occur in somewhat inaccessible veins, along sheer faces of rock. General access to the area has also been limited, which has resulted in little Schorl being made available.
We are fortunate to have a large selection of good quality Black Tourmaline in stock.
Aquamarine, Smokey Quartz and Hylite are also the found in this area. They occasionally occur in conjunction with the Schorl. Most of these combinations of minerals are listed in the "Other" section of Erongo.
