he Tsumeb Mine produced some really beautiful Dioptase specimens. This is not a very common mineral, but is found in the oxidized parts of Copper sulphide deposits. The Tsumeb Dioptases are easy to distinguish from those from other locations by their crystal shape. Tsumeb Dioptases tend to be more cubed.
Associated minerals include Calcite, Malachite, Dolomite, Cerussite and Wulfenite, to mention but a few. The Dioptase is occasionally included in Calcite crystals.
This beautiful, emerald green mineral is not very easy to photograph. The colour is not an easy one to capture. Many of our photographs do not do these specimens justice!
