his is another very interesting and diverse Tsumeb mineral. Smithsonite also occurs at the Berg Aukas Mine, and some of our specimens are from this location.
Smithsonite crystals are rather rare, but many beautiful specimens did come out of Tsumeb. The crystal habit is most commonly rhombohedral or botryoidal. Long acicular crystals have also been found.
The colours vary greatly, including clear, white, tan, grey, pink, green and yellow. These colours are determined by the presence of other minerals in this Zinc carbonate.
Associated minerals from the Tsumeb Mine include Dolomite, Cerussite, Calcite, Mimetite, Duftite, Mottramite and Galena.
Minerals associated with the Berg Aukus Smithsonites are Willemite, Calcite, and occasionally, Descloizite.
