his is one of the main ore minerals from the Kalahari Manganese Fields. The most sought after specimens of Hausmanite are the octahedral crystals, particularly when associated with red Andradite Garnet.
Some of the best Hausmanite specimens in the world are reputed to come from the Hotazel, N'Chwaning I, N'Chwaning II and Wessels mines, all part of the Kalahari Manganese Fields.
This mineral forms in pyramidal, octohedral shaped crystals, often with composite crystal faces. They are commonly stacked upon one another. Hematite, Andradite Garnet, Calcite, Kutnahorite and Gaudefroyite have all been known to be associated with Hausmanite.
